Who’s Eligible for the Grant?

Homeowners across Suffolk County have a unique opportunity to modernize their property while protecting local waterways. The Septic Improvement Program is designed for residents who currently rely on aging cesspools or traditional septic systems. If your home isn’t connected to a public sewer and serves as your primary residence, you could qualify for thousands in funding toward an advanced, environmentally friendly system.

To qualify for Suffolk County’s Septic Improvement Program, homeowners generally must:

  • Own a single-family home in Suffolk County.
  • Use a cesspool or conventional septic system that requires replacement or upgrade.
  • Not be connected to a public sewer system.
  • Use the home as a primary residence.
  • Meet application and installation requirements outlined in the county’s Reclaim Our Water program.
