Massapequa Water Line Replacement & Repair

The water line is fundamental to the plumbing system. It’s what brings water from the municipal system into our homes. Every other pipe we have is dependent on a functioning water line. When there’s damage or even a hint of damage, it’s important to have a professional take a look as soon as possible. From our home office in Massapequa, Chivalry Plumbing, Heating & Cooling also serves homeowners in Seaford, Wantagh, and beyond.

Call our Massapequa water line plumbers at (516) 402-3200, where we’re available 24/7 and offer emergency service. You can also fill out our online form to set up an appointment.

The Signs of Water Line Damage

Fast action may be able to mitigate more expensive repairs. Homeowners who know the red flags to watch for can get our team out there in a timely manner. Here are four common signs that may indicate water line damage:

  • A Wet Floor: Leaking water lines can cause moisture to seep through floors and walls, leading to visible signs of dampness. The floor being wet without explanation is often a dead giveaway that there’s a plumbing problem. The water line is a likely culprit.
  • Soggy Grass: The water line, much like the sewer line, which serves the opposite function of carrying water out of the home, runs underground. This means leaks can saturate the soil, causing the ground to become excessively wet.
  • Discolored Water: Discoloration is often caused by rust or sediment from deteriorating pipes. The presence of contaminants in the water supply can result in health risks, so it’s important to have the water line inspected and repaired if discoloration occurs.
  • Rust and Corrosion: Pipes may develop rust or corrosion due to factors like age, moisture, or chemical reactions. These signs suggest that the pipes may be weakened or deteriorating, which can eventually lead to leaks or bursts.

If you observe any of these signs of water line damage, give us a call. We can assess the situation and recommend a course of action, whether that be repair work or perhaps the installation of a new water line.

How Often Should Water Lines Be Replaced?

The durability of your water line will depend on the material it was made with. A galvanized steel water line might need to be replaced every 20 years, although, with proper maintenance and care, it can still last up to 50 years. Brass should last you at least 40 years and perhaps longer. Copper’s lifespan is usually about 50 years.

Water Line Replacement

Our Massapequa water line technicians offer an affordable and safer alternative to traditional methods that force you to dig up your yard.

We begin the process by simply digging two small holes—one where the waterline begins and another where it ends. A new pipe will be placed into the existing pipe, and a tool will help burst the old pipe so it can be completely replaced.

With Chivalry Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, your property won’t be damaged, and you can expect minimal to no disruption.

Call our office today at (516) 402-3200 to get repair service or to ask about a new installation.

The winter of 2025-2026 was pretty brutal, with temps in single digits on some days. I had shut off our first floor baseboard heating due to a leak somewhere in the water pipe system. However the old Levitt house we live in have the pipes embedded into the concrete slab (no basement) so finding the leak was especially challenging. Our HVAC system plus the Dyson Heating unit DID NOT provide enough heat during the cold nights. In March we finally called several plumbing contractors to see how the leak can be detected and repaired. Only Chivalry offered using thermal imaging gun to try to narrow where the leak might be. Eric and Rich came out to perform the scan and identified two possible leak locations. The first potential leak site was in the kitchen. They were able to limit removing just a single 18×18-inch tile to access the pipe, but this location showed no leak. The second location, near the back door, required cutting through laminate flooring, and that is where they found the leaking pipe. Replacing the leaking pipe section was fairly standard. But the hardest part was finding the leak. We are grateful for Eric and Rich's detective work and the repair done to restore our baseboard heating. Now we can look forward to a warm winter next year. PS. Its up to the homeowner to repair the surface AFTER the digging, which I was able to do myself. Luckily, I kept some tiles and floorboards.

I’ve been meaning to write this for a while. Back in Fall 2025, Chivalry Plumbing installed our new boiler and removed the old one, and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. Will, Anthony, and Eric were fantastic to work with. They were professional, respectful of our home, and incredibly clean and neat throughout the entire process. What really stood out was how efficiently they worked. They completed a full boiler installation and removal in just one day, and the setup they put in is top notch. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of the work. I highly recommend Chivalry Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable, skilled, and courteous service.

I had a serious gas leak in ny 1923 house in Elmont. Being that others on the job have used this company, I figured I would give them a try. They sent out David in a timely manner being that the main was turned off by the Regs. David was informative and patient with my cost concerns and product placement with sheet rock being cut away. I can say that he did his honest best and gave me 2 quotes which I could swing. There was a payment plan available on there website if I wanted that route. I feel that this company has excellent customer service. They chose wisely with David and Anthony that partnered him on the large job that was done in a day. I recommend this company and ask for these 2 men as they are the best when I was seriously overwhelmed.

I contacted this company because I thought I had a plumbing-related leak. Brandon, with assistance from Anthony, took the time to properly assess the situation and ultimately ruled out plumbing as the cause. Instead, they pointed me in the direction of a possible roof flashing issue. I especially want to recognize Brandon for his honesty and professionalism. He could have easily gone along with unnecessary work, but instead, he was upfront and steered me in the right direction. That kind of integrity is hard to find and truly appreciated. Thanks to his guidance, I’ve now scheduled an inspection with a siding/roofing company. I’m grateful for the transparency and would definitely recommend this team.
